Enjoy the spectacular fall bird migration in the company of fellow bird and nature enthusiasts at the Goose Pond Fish & Wildlife Area. Join DNR during The Big Sit! an international event focused on recording all bird observations at one location over the course of a day.
The Big Sit! is a stationary birding opportunity; enjoy birding with others while sitting in one place. All ages and experience levels are welcome at this free event.
Participants are welcome to come for the whole event, or come and go as desired.

My husband and I watched the whooping cranes in Corpus Christi, Texas. Now, as returning Midwesterners we ar happy to learn that Goose Pond have some migratory Whooping Cranes who visit. We’d like to learn more about when they are expected to come through Indiana in Spring 2022.

We recently visited Goose Pond and really enjoyed the displays in the visitor’s center. Great job in putting that together!!! We have a suggestion to make it even better….install some cameras in the areas most often frequented by the birds and wildlife with a feed back to monitors in the visitor’s center. That would be a way of increasing the viewing opportunities without disturbing the crittters with frequent human presence. Is that a possibility? Maybe you could start a special funding campaign to help make that happen and support it.
