One of the missions of the Friends of Goose Pond is the support of wildlife conservation. We do this through educational programs and monetary support of research projects. A great example of how your membership fees, merchandise purchases, and donations enable FoGP to help fund such research is described in the video below.
In this video, you will learn how Indiana DNR ornithologists, with support from Friends of Goose Pond and other partners, perform wood thrush tagging. The radio-tagging is done to monitor the population and migratory pathways of these birds. Through the so-called Motus network, a system of radio towers throughout North and South America, the travels of the wood thrushes can be monitored.
